COVID-19 Update: March 22, 2021

Aloha Kīnā ʻOle families,

We hope everyone is staying safe and dry with all the recent heavy rains!

As the COVID vaccinations are in full gear across the country, we are happy to inform you that 99% of our residents have been fully vaccinated! We know that everyone is looking forward to the day that life returns to “normal”!

While the CDC’s newest guidelines do not pertain to health care settings and leave all precautionary safety measures in place, we realize how important family visitations are for your loved ones and recognize the COVID vaccinations will soon change the landscape of the pandemic. We are committed to find ways our residents can enjoy visitations while still maintaining safety for everyone.

For individuals that have been fully vaccinated (2 weeks after receiving 2nd vaccination shot), we are happy to make the following exceptions beginning Monday, March 29th:

  • Increased visitation frequency from weekly to open visits (pre-scheduled at least 24 hours in advance with manager);
  • Indoor visitation allowances (2 visitors max) (outdoor visitation still preferred as recommended by DOH);
  • Increased time of visitation to 1–2 hour visits; and
  • Elimination of PPE gown.

Again, these exceptions are for individuals that have been fully vaccinated. Please send documentation of vaccination to communications@kinaoleohana.com.

For individuals that have yet to be vaccinated, all current visitation guidelines below will remain in effect.

COVID-19 Update: November 23, 2020

CURRENT STATUS: As of today, we have had no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Kīnā ʻOle Estate. As we continually monitor the situation, the health and safety of our residents, staff, family members, and community will always be our top priority.

FACE-TO-FACE VISITS: Face-to-face visits between residents and their family members are now being allowed by scheduling an appointment with our staff. For health and safety purposes, face-to-face visits will be held between a transparent plexiglass divider and the wearing of approved Personal Protective Equipment at all times. Physical touch will be discouraged, however, both the resident and their family members will be able to see, hear, and be in close-proximity to each other (hugging before and at the end of visit is allowed with a gown). As an alternative to face-to-face visits, our staff will continue to help facilitate virtual visits and phone calls between residents and their family members

ACTIVITIES & EXERCISE: With no more than eight live-in residents per home, we are also able to safely provide our residents with the opportunity to participate in activities and physical exercise. Our staff has developed a wide variety of creative, engaging, and fun activities for our residents, which provide opportunities for socialization as well as mental and physical stimulation.

NOW ACCEPTING NEW RESIDENTS: If you, or someone you know, is interested in becoming a resident of Kīnā ʻOle Estates, please call (808) 233-4455 for more information or to schedule a tour. All new residents must pass health screening requirements and self-quarantine for 14 days as part of our COVID-19 prevention procedures.

CURRENT STATUS: As of today, we have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Kīnā ʻOle Estate. As we continually monitor the situation, our top priority will always be the health and safety of our residents, staff, family members, and our community.

NEW RESIDENTS: We are currently offering tours for potential new residents, by appointment only. We are also welcoming new residents with protective measures, based on CDC guidelines. Once an applicant has passed the health screening requirements, they will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Please call 808-233-4455 to schedule a visit, or for any questions regarding our admission process.

CURRENT RESIDENTS: We understand that this is a worrisome situation for our residents and their families, and we will continue to do everything we can to maintain a healthy, safe, and enjoyable living environment for our residents. Family members of current residents are discouraged from visiting at this time, however, we are helping to facilitate virtual visits, phone calls, and other non-physical connections between our residents and their family members.

STAFF: Our staff has undergone COVID-19 training and are required to wear approved Personal Protective Equipment, physically distance, practice good personal hygiene, and undergo health screenings daily. We remain committed to ensuring the health and safety of our staff members and their families.
